JOHN SILVER

John Silver is a self-taught Kenyan Artist, born in Murang’a, Kenya.  He started painting from a very young age and later decided to pursue art as a career.  John drew inspiration from artists in the Banana Hill and Ngecha region where he later became a founding member of the Banana Hill Art Studio. John’s paintings and prints have a dream-like quality, full of color, texture and fantasy. His Wood cuts and paintings have found their way to several institutions, among others the Victoria and Albert Collection in London and Prince Anderrz Emmt De Lilia in Longhouse Collection in Canada.   Besides making paintings, prints and sculptures, John also trains aspiring artists and has his own Rhino Care Art project where he trains disadvantaged children who live in the slums.  John has had his work published in a number of publications including Islands of Creativity and the Kenya Arts Diary 2011.
