Africa’s Top Art Collector visits Kuona Trust

We are extremely excited to be hosting Prince Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon  at Kuona Trust for a presentation and discussion on “The Tension between the artist as Creator & Cultural Preserver and the Need for Commercial success.”

 In his collection, Prince Yemisi holds about 7,000 pieces of traditional and neo – traditional African art, contemporary and modern African paintings, sculptures and about 55,000 photographic of Nigeria’s cultural festivals. He has made pretensions in some of the top museums and universities around the world, and will discuss his foundation’s efforts to create a hub of Nigerian art to the world and a major point of contact for scholars, critics, artists and enthusiasts of Nigerian art and culture.

The session provides an opportunity to all artists and art collectors to meet and interact with one of Africa’s top art collectors.

Prince Yemisi will have a subsequent session on at the Nairobi Gallery on Wednesday March 23rd from 2:00 pm to 5 pm, discussing “African Culture as the Basis of our Future Societal & Economic Progress.”
